Dancing the night away
Dancing to music and live bands has always held an attraction for young people in Warrington . It has also provided the opportunity for both the sexes to dress to impress and show off in the latest fashions.
| A number of dance halls opened in the 1940s, such as the Carlton Club. Warrington Baths was also a popular venue for dances with a sprung floor built over one of the pools. These dance halls had their own dance bands and singers. |

| Rock and roll music brought with it a new found freedom for the generation growing up in the 1950s and 60s. Big name bands have played in Warrington, including the Beatles who played at the Bell Hall on Orford Lane , in 1962, just before the release of their single 'Love Me Do'. |

| A number of pop stars have started their careers in Warrington . Two members of the successful band, Starsailor, hail from Warrington and in December 2002 they played a sell-out gig at the Parr Hall. |

| In 1986 Mr. Smiths night club was made famous in the late-night television show 'The Hitman and Her' when record producer Pete Waterman made the club the main focus for the show. Mr. Smiths has since made a name for itself with clubbers all over the North-West. |
