"I remember the shrimp man with his cart. For 6p you got a basin full of shrimps.
Also the hurdy gurdy man with his mobile fair."

George, from a farming family in Grappenhall remembered getting a lift off Sir Roger Parr as a child.

"Coming out of Grappenhall School once I can remember walking up the road and this gentleman pulling up on his bicycle and saying "I'll give you a lift son, hop on
the carrier", and that was Sir Roger Parr. I rode on the back of his cycle and
he dropped me at the bottom of the drive. I got a severe going over by me mother, saying "I hope you didn't speak to him, I hope you didn't say anything to Sir Roger Parr", but he was cycling around his estate, he knew who I was, he gave me a lift
up the road on the back of his carrier on his bicycle.
